Hepatic and biliary centre:
Through the quality of its equipment and combined medical and surgical
skills, the clinic has developed a hepatic and biliary centre which
deals with the detection and treatment of abnormalities of the liver,
the gall-bladder and the pancreas.
The functioning of this unit relies on the collaboration of the
teams of surgeons, anaesthetists and radiologists, in such a way,
that where an operation is needed, the patient can be entirely taken
care of at the clinic and in total safety.
The clinic has a unit for major hepatic and biliary surgery with
the latest equipment necessary for operations of this highly specialised
discipline.
In addition, the clinic offers the possibility of treating abnormalities
using an endoscope, a technique which has the advantage of giving
a more precise diagnosis, less traumatic operations (no opening
of the abdomen), reduced after-efects and therefore a shorter stay
in hospital. These operations are performed with scrupulous respect
for the safety standards of the decontamination of these devices.
- Gastroenterology:
The endoscope povides the gastroenterologists with means of diagnosing
and treating disorders of the digestive tract.
Particular exploratory investigation carried out with the purpose
of both diagnosing and operating, is that for abnormalities of the
oesophagus and stomach such as fibroptic endoscopy hautes et basses,
dilation of stenosis, gastrostomy, exploratory investigation for
colorectal pathologies such as fibrocolonoscopy, removal of polyps,
proctology, and the exploratory investigation of diseases of the
liver and biliary tract, such as retrograde catherisation, liver
biopsies.
Endoscopy therefore allows the hollow organs of the abdomen to be
diagnosed and treated. Echoendoscopy is recommended whenever other
means of exploration turn out to be insufficient.
